2017 Summer Scholars Student Handbook

Orientation for Boarding and Day students and their families will be held on Sunday, July 2 (Session I) and Sunday, July 23 (Session II) to meet Program Directors and faculty who will share their academic and residential expectations for students and answer any questions. A tour of the campus will be included. Following this, students and families will convene in their Houses to unpack and meet their residential team: Housemasters, Interns, Prefects, and begin the process of bonding with Housemates and other families over an evening BBQ, weather permitting.

 Campus Boundaries

Boarding students should not leave campus, at any time, without House faculty supervision. All students are expected to remain on Main Campus (which includes their House, academic building and Irwin Dining Hall) at all times. Access to other locations, for various activities, on campus and off will be under the supervision of staff.

Student Mail

Boarding students receive their mail nightly in the Houses. Mail to Boarders should be addressed as follows:

Student Name

Lawrenceville Summer Scholars

The Lawrenceville School

2500 Main St.

Lawrenceville, NJ 08648

Students may not keep any pets on campus, including fish.

Game systems, electrical cooking appliances, televisions and refrigerators are prohibited in House rooms. Houses are air conditioned, so there is no need for students to bring window fans. However, small desk fans are permitted and may be brought or purchased locally.

Laundry and Linens

Weekly laundry service and linen rental is included in residential student tuition.  Students are also welcome to manage their laundry on their own.  There are coin operated machines in each house.  Linen service includes all bedding, towels, and weekly laundering of rented linens. Students may also opt out of linen service.  Students managing their own laundry must also provide their own detergent and fabric softener.

Room Furnishings

Rooms are equipped with beds for each student, and shared desks, dressers, and closet space in the case of a double or triple room.  We do not recommend bringing an excessive amount of clothing and other belongings.

Rooming Policy

Most of our rooms are singles but there are also doubles and a few triples. Students should expect to accept all room assignments (consideration will be given for religious or health issues).

Emergency Phone Numbers

Boarding students and their parents will be provided with House faculty telephone numbers when they arrive on campus.
