Summer Scholars are authentically engaged learners who benefit from rigorous, collaborative classroom experiences. The faculty strive to help students become breakthrough thinkers, innovative leaders, and imaginative problems solvers.
No matter where you live, you have the option to be either a residential or a day scholar. Some local residents who want to experience boarding school life come to Lawrenceville Summer Scholars as Residential Scholars, while some of our international families travel together and stay in the Princeton area while their students attend as Day Scholars. Whichever option you choose, you will be assigned to a House and experience residential life at Lawrenceville.

We offer Residential and Day options for scholars who have completed 5th, 6th, or 7th grades and who are at least 11 years of age by July 1, 2020 in our Middle School, and students who have completed 8th or 9th grade in our High School.

Additional Admission Information

List of 5 frequently asked questions.

  • Does every person who applies get accepted?

The Lawrenceville Summer Scholars program is a competitive academic enrichment program. Not every student who applies is accepted into the program. Some students are qualified, but we are unable to accept them due to space constraints, including grade and gender capacity. Boarding applicants who are not accepted are always placed on the waitlist and encouraged to attend as Day Scholars.
  • What does the student body look like?

In 2018, our student body was balanced 50% male/female. Last year our student body was 69% domestic and 31% international.
  • Who may apply?

The Summer Scholars Program accepts applications from academically qualified boys and girls who have completed the 5th, 6th, or 7th grades in its Lower School and 8th or 9th grade for its Upper School. The session expects a serious academic commitment from students, who are held accountable for all requirements.
  • Are international students required to submit TOEFL scores?

In order to participate in the program, all international students must have a high level of English proficiency. The minimum TOEFL scores are 600 for the paper-based test, and 80 for the Internet-based test. If a TOEFL test has not been taken, an international student can also show 3+ years in an International School. International students applying must be fully fluent in English, and some students will be asked to participate in a Skype interview.
  • I forgot my password? Who do I contact?
