Day Scholars
Our Day Program offers engaging and rigorous classes and group activities that foster a sense of community and interdependence.
Day Scholars choose three classes during the three week program, and also take a required humanities class in which they will focus on close reading and writing skills.
House
All Scholars will be assigned to a House and have an immediate connection to an advisor to help with the academic and social elements of the Lawrenceville Summer Scholars experience. House life helps develop communication and community skills in a single-sex, age-grouped setting. Advisory groups are led by faculty and Prefects, who are currently enrolled or recently graduated Lawrenceville students.
At first (Harkness) was kind of intimidating – I didn’t know when to talk. But by the end I was really comfortable. I felt prepared and I wasn’t scared to be at the Harkness table when my actual classes started in the fall. I could contribute right away.

Harkness
Scholars collaborate with their peers around a Harkness table to gain a deeper understanding of content and develop their own learning processes. Class discussions offer Scholars opportunities to develop skills for critical thinking and to apply those skills in a meaningful way.
