Bernadette Teeley, Executive Director

Bernadette Teeley has been at the Lawrenceville School since 2011 where she is a member of the English faculty, a housemaster, and the girls rowing coach. She served as Director of Academics for Summer Scholars in 2016 and has been the Executive Director since 2017. Prior to arriving at Lawrenceville, she led a non-profit organization and worked in policy research for the Educational Testing Service (ETS) in Princeton, NJ. Bernadette has a B.A. from the University of Dayton and an M.A. from the University of Michigan. She and her husband Brendan have two daughters—Vivian and Catherine, and reside year round at The Lawrenceville School. Email Bernadette att bteeley@lawrenceville.org.
Drew Burton, Director of Students

Drew Burton is the Dean of the Middle school at Williamsburg Northside School. He has served as Director of Students for Summer Scholars since 2017. He began his professional experiences in Baltimore City as a Teach For America corps member. Drew earned his B.A. from the University of Maryland, College Park, his M.A.T from Johns Hopkins University, and his M.A.Ed. from Seton Hall University. Drew also works as an adjunct professor for Johns Hopkins School of Education. He and his wife Amanda reside in Brooklyn, NY with their two children—Cruz and Everett. Cynthia Hill, Director of Academics

Cynthia Hill is an instructor for Expository Writing and the Program in Sustainability at the Harvard Extension School. She previously taught science at Choate Rosemary Hall, and taught the DNA course for LVSS in 2019. She has always been interested in science and earned a B.S. in Biology and Spanish from Dickinson College, an M.S. in Exercise Science from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst, and a Ph.D. in Science Education from Tufts University. Scott Barnard, Deputy Director of Academics and Harkness Coach

Scott Barnard has been working at the Lawrenceville School since 2016, where he teaches courses in Latin and Ancient Greek and he coaches baseball and soccer. Scott was born in Denver, CO and attended high school in northern New Jersey. He received his B.A. in English and M.A. in Comparative Literature from the University of New Mexico, and he later completed a Ph.D. in Classics from Rutgers University. Prior to his work at Lawrenceville, Scott taught university-level courses in classical languages, ancient history, and modern receptions of antiquity. He resides in Lawrenceville, NJ with his wife, Erin, and two children — Evan and Madeleine. Email Scott at sbarnard@lawrenceville.org.
Donna Raskin, Program Manager

Donna Raskin is responsible for Summer Scholars program operations including admissions, communications, and summer logistics. She has been part of the Lawrenceville Summer Scholars team since 2013, teaching writing, film, literature, and history. Donna is also an adjunct professor at The College of New Jersey. She earned a M.Ed. in Middle School Humanities Education from Lesley University and lives in Lawrenceville with her son, James. Email Donna at donna.raskin@lawrenceville.org.
