Once an applicant accepts the offered spot and enrolls, the application fee will be deducted as part of tuition and families will be billed for the remainder of tuition. 50% of tuition must be paid within 15 days of acceptance in order for the applicant’s spot to be held. Remaining balance must be paid within 30 days of acceptance. Applicants accepted after April 1 must pay in full to enroll.
Change Requests, Cancellations and Refunds
Commitments to faculty and staff, arrangements for students' room and board, and other provisions for use and maintenance of school facilities are made in advance of the summer. They are based on anticipated student enrollment and are subject to change.
Prior to April 1st, enrolled students may request a refund in writing in the amount of 50% of the tuition. No refunds after April 1 of the current season will be given. Students who, after the opening of the program, voluntarily withdraw for whatever reason or are required to withdraw by recommendation of the faculty will receive no refund of fees paid. No refunds for late arrival, early dismissal, vacations, illness, or injury.
Family and Scholar Handbook, as well as copies of waivers and forms are available on the registration portal.
Orientation Sunday, July 7, 2019
Orientation will be held Sunday, July 7, 2019 from 3:00-7:00 p.m. Our faculty and staff will have the opportunity to introduce House and Harkness and you will have the chance to attend a campus tour. Students will join prefects for icebreakers followed by a family, student, and staff barbeque. Activities will be held outdoors.
Students cannot be accommodated on campus before Check-in Day. The Summer Scholars Program does not permit late arrivals; all students must arrive for check-in on the appropriate date.
Residential Student check in between 1:00-3:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 7, 2019.
In general, families are responsible for transporting their students to Summer Scholars during the registration window and picking them up at the conclusion of the program. However, to make long-distance travel more manageable for families, Summer Scholars does provide limited shuttle service to major airports for an extra fee.
One of the most complicated aspects of the Lawrenceville Summer Scholars program is working with families to make sure boarding students arrive and depart from campus safely. We cannot be responsible for students traveling as unaccompanied minors and using air travel without extensive advanced communication. Parents must check with the airline to see if the airlines offer unaccompanied minor service prior to purchasing tickets, and they should contact the Lawrenceville Summer Scholars office, in writing at firstname.lastname@example.org, to be sure travel details are clear. Only written communication will make it possible for Lawrenceville Summer Scholars staff to pick up and drop off students at the airport.
Residential students arriving by plane should plan to arrive at JFK International Airport or Newark International Airport. For $150, we offer bus shuttles for students from JFK and EWR to campus. Our shuttles will be departing JFK and Newark Airports at 11:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. Lawrenceville Summer Scholars cannot be responsible for transportation to campus students whose flights arrive later than 2:00 p.m. on arrival day.
Upon arrival, our staff will meet your scholar at the baggage claim area after security and escort him/her to the shuttle bus. If the airline requires a staff member to meet your scholar at the arrival gate, please contact our office to arrange this.
Boarding students departing by plane may take our bus shuttles ($150) to JFK or Newark. Buses will depart The Lawrenceville School campus at approximately 8:00 a.m. Lawrenceville staff will escort your scholar to the check in desk/security line. If the airline requires a staff member to escort your scholar to the departure gate. Lawrenceville Summer Scholars cannot be responsible for transportation to JFK or EWR for students whose flights depart earlier than 12:00 p.m. or on another day.
To arrange for your own transportation to or from campus, we recommend contacting King Limousine and Transportation services, which offers a minor accompaniment service, at 800-951-2680.
** Day students will depart regular time on Friday, July 26, 2019.
